But President Biden wants to make that harder with a new tax code that would raise tax rates and close loopholes for American corporations with annual incomes exceeding $2 billion. The plan is intended to bring in enough tax revenue to fund Mr. Biden's $2 trillion infrastructure proposal .

WASHINGTON (AP) — For more than a half-century, the voice emerging from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's monolithic, Beaux Arts-styled building near the White House was predictable: It was the embodiment of American business and, more specifically, a shared set of interests with the Republican Party.

Fissures have burst open over the GOP's embrace of conspiracy theories and rejection of mainstream climate science, as well as its dismissal of the 2020 election outcome. The most recent flashpoint was in Georgia, where a new Republican-backed law restricting voting rights drew harsh criticism from Delta Air Lines and Coca Cola, whose headquarters are in the state, and resulted in Major League Baseball pulling the 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta.

Exclusive: Ingersoll Rand nears $1.7 billion deal to sell golf cart business to Platinum Equity -

(Reuters) - Pumps and compressors manufacturer Ingersoll Rand Inc is nearing a deal to sell its golf cart business to private equity firm Platinum Equity LLC for around $1.7 billion, people familiar with the matter said on Sunday.

The deal will separate Ingersoll Rand from a business it acquired in 1995. It is the latest in a series of divestitures that CEO Vicente Reynal has embarked on to pay down debt and streamline the company's portfolio following the merger last year of Ingersoll Rand's industrial business with Gardner Denver Holdings Inc.
