For any business, small or large, getting your budget right can be the thin line between success and failure. At VaroTeam we are well-versed on planning and executing an effective budget. Given that we are based in Miami Beach, we thought we'd share a few tips for local entrepreneurs and business owners.

Baytex Energy sets lower capital budget for 2021, targets positive free cash flow - JWN Energy
Baytex Energy Corp. says its is budgeting for capital spending of between $225 million and $275 million next year, a reduction at the midpoint from what it expects to spend this year.
The Calgary-based company says the budget will result in positive free cash flow and stable production in a US$40-to-$45-per-barrel West Texas Intermediate oil price environment.
In recent third-quarter results, it estimated it would spend between $260 million and $290 million this year, about 50 per cent less than the original 2020 budget of $500 million to $575 million, reduced to cope with lower oil prices.
Japan mobile fees crack as KDDI weighs no-cost switches to
Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has been a vocal advocate for lower mobile rates. Under such pressure, market leader NTT Docomo is poised to become the first of Japan's three leading carriers to cut prices for its main brand, Nikkei reported Monday .
"Why are there so many procedures and fees just to change to a different plan within the same company?" Communications Minister Ryota Takeda said to reporters Friday.
Docomo will become the first of the trio to break with this long-standing industry practice. For its budget brand set to launch next spring, the company does not plan to charge users for moving from its main brand, Nikkei reports.

What happened : Supervisors unveiled the 2021 preliminary budget with good news for residents. The $2.2 million spending plan holds real estate taxes at the current 1.17 mills. It marks the third year with no tax hike. The budget calls for revenues of $2,181,170 against expenses of $2,169,542.
Revenues : Main sources of revenue in the new budget are $637,929 from real estate taxes and $1.08 million from enabling taxes. The latter includes real estate transfer fees, earned income tax and local service taxes. In addition the township expects income of $32,000 from plan review and permit fees, $84,483 from local and state grants, $24,568 from state aid and $15,000 from fines and accident reports.

The lame-duck Trump administration is defying precedent by pressing ahead with a fiscal 2022 defense budget request, and could release it before President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in.
The White House Office of Management and Budget and the Pentagon are going back and forth over various items. While the incoming Biden team will likely redo parts of the budget to reflect its own priorities, large portions developed by Trump's Pentagon team are sure to make it into Biden's proposal, which we probably won't see until the spring.
