As we head into the end of the year, you might be looking for ways to spend your remaining marketing budget or thinking of ways to get more for next year.

But getting more funds can be a challenge, no matter how big or small your company is. The good news? We have some ideas to help you make your case, maximize your budget, and improve your success along the way.
We know it can feel awkward to ask for more budget, especially if your marketing was less successful than you hoped for this year. (Thanks, pandemic.) That doesn't mean you shouldn't try, though. If you can make a reasonable request, backed by data (ideally), you might be surprised at how generous your budget stakeholders can be.

Adios, 2020! Here are people, programs, and budgets to watch for in 2021... - Defense One
After such a difficult year, let's look ahead to 2021, shall we? With the new administration arriving on Jan. 20, the year's first few months will bring Senate confirmation hearings for top Pentagon positions.
President-elect Joe Biden has said he will tap Lloyd Austin, a retired Army general, as defense secretary. But there have been no announcements about the other 59 officials who need the Senate's assent: service secretaries, undersecretaries, and the rest.

New York restaurants are "barely keeping our nose above the water" - Business Insider
It was a little hard to hear him over an epic rendition of O Holy Night, a la Celine Dion, playing on a radio turned up high; the windows were painted in cheery reds and greens, proclaiming, "Joy to the World."
"Things are bad, very bad," said Tourloukis. The restaurant, run by the same family for three generations, was empty, save for a couple quietly eating lunch at a tiny booth in the corner. In pre-COVID times, "this whole area would be packed, and so would the other room." Come back on the weekend, and you'd see a line out the door, stretching down the block. "And that line would last until 2pm, 3pm," said Tourloukis.

Phillips 66 lowers 2021 spending budget after pandemic hit | Reuters | Business | The Journal
(Reuters) -U.S. oil refiner Phillips 66 on Monday set its 2021 capital budget at $1.7 billion, around 43% lower than forecast for the previous year, as the energy industry struggles to recover from the blow of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The coronavirus crisis and resulting lockdowns upended global travel and fuel demand, creating a supply glut that pushed U.S. crude oil prices briefly into negative territory in April.
West Texas Intermediate crude futures have recovered much of those losses on the back of COVID-19 vaccine progress, although they have shed about 23% of their value so far this year.
