This company has a "plant budget" to promote workplace wellbeing

At the RotaCloud office in Yorkshire, employees receive a yearly "plant budget" to spend on greenery for their desks. The result? An office jungle that looks fantastic – and promotes workplace wellbeing.

"We introduced the programme towards the end of last year and it has been going for almost six months now," explains James Lintern, co-founder of RotaCloud. "In that time we've accumulated about 70 new plants in the office, so far."

"The budget itself is very flexible – officially everyone gets £10 each year to spend on plants, however, we also have a partnership with a local York-based independent, exotic houseplant specialist called Botanic, and all new team members are encouraged to pop in when they start and pick up a plant or two to make their desks feel more homely," he says.

Esports — electronic sports or video gaming — is "one of the fastest growing spectator sports in the world," said Mark Perdue, Lincoln College athletic director.

Last month, the Sixty Six Games Expo drew crowds to Bloomington's Grossinger Motors Arena for the second year in a row with League of Legends esports tournaments, a retro gaming lounge and an esports clinic for schools interested in adding or expanding esports programs.

For an example of how competitive gaming has exploded in popularity, look at schools in the Bloomington-Normal area.

Join the Club, Save Some Money - The New York Times

When Ashlee Laird, 32, a high school adviser in Houston, was planning her honeymoon to Italy in 2015, a friend suggested she look at Costco Travel, the travel division of Costco Wholesale's retail membership club that operates warehouse-scale stores.

"There was no downside," Ms. Laird said of her Costco package, noting that the travel agent assigned to the couple kept in touch before, during and after the trip.

In addition to bulk supplies of toilet paper, KitchenAid refrigerators and giant packs of canned salmon, Costco sells trips to Europe, as well as Riviera Maya resort stays, Alaska cruises, safaris in East Africa and Disney theme park trips.
