Council endorses changes to East 11th and 12th street development regulations - Austin ...

Before a troubled history of urban renewal and disinvestment led the city to declare the areas blighted, 11th and 12th streets were once thriving corridors in East Austin's Black community.

City Council gave initial approval on April 21 to the land use changes, which aim to bring sometimes contradictory plans for the area into harmony. The changes apply to the area's Urban Renewal Plan and the 11th and 12th Street Neighborhood Conservation Combining Districts.

City of Charlotte drops proposed regulations on short term rental properties – WSOC TV

CHARLOTTE — The city of Charlotte said it will be dropping attempts to regulate short-term rentals, like Airbnb properties, after a ruling from the state's highest court.

Channel 9 has covered issues related to short-term rentals in Charlotte for years. Some of the complaints were reports of parties, homicides, scams and neighborhood complaints, and many have asked city council members like Dimple Ajmera to do something about it.

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked and fellow Yamina MK Abir Kara on Sunday presented an amendment to the Business Licensing Order that would ease regulatory burdens on about a third of Israeli businesses. Shaked expects to sign it in two weeks.

Using a stack of office binders as props, Shaked and Kara detailed how the amendment could reduce the need for thousands of Israeli businesses to obtain licenses, as well as eliminate the need for police approval for certain leisure businesses such as restaurants, cafes and bars.

Maine lobstermen fear disaster as new gear regulations take effect - Portland Press Herald
