Thank you to council for budget restoration | News, Sports, Jobs - The Intermountain

A week ago several volunteers and public servants felt hopelessly unappreciated when the Elkins City Council Finance Committee proposed a plan to cut the heart out of the City budget by reducing funding for “outside” agencies by 60% or more.

The City proposal for unexpected budget changes was devastating to organizations that function on very small budgets. They have had to apply for grants to be able to offer services to our community.

Criminal Justice Reform Discussion Slows Budget Action | Nebraska Public Media

Action on the state budget switched into slow-motion in the Nebraska Legislature Thursday, reflecting a continuing standoff between advocates of building a new prison and advocates of criminal justice reform.

What was officially on the agenda Thursday was the second of three rounds of debate on the state budget. But what Sen. Steve Lathrop wanted to talk about was criminal justice reform. And because he was at the head of the line to file amendments, he and his supporters controlled the debate.

Rossi: West Haven personnel increases in proposed budget 'sorely needed'

WEST HAVEN — In the grand scheme of things, Mayor Nancy Rossi's proposed budget is one targeted at restoration just as much as growth.

With a proposed 301 employees on the city's payroll in fiscal year 2023 — a seven-employee increase from the current fiscal year — it would be the highest level of staffing since 2016. But Rossi does not view it as an expansion.
