LETTER: Why do we pay a licensing fee for property taxes? | Opinion | starexponent.com

Somehow or another I managed to scrape up the entire fee (so I thought) and went to the treasurer's office, only to be told there was a further so-called 'licensing fee.

Voters renew several taxes in parts of Terrebonne and Lafourche. One fails in a tie.

Thibodaux voters renewed a property tax for fire protection Saturday in one of several elections throughout Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes.

Road tax renewal: Voters renewed a 2.74-mill property tax that raises $355,800 a year to help pay for road maintenance. It was renewed for 10 years starting in 2023. The owner of a $150,000 house pay $20.55 a year for the tax.
