Zillow Sells 2,000 Homes in Dismantling Its House-Flipping Business - WSJ

Zillow Group Inc. reached a deal to sell about 2,000 homes from its ill-fated house-flipping program, the company's biggest bulk sale as it starts unloading thousands of homes and terminates the business.

Pretium Partners, a New York City-based investment firm, has agreed to buy Zillow homes across 20 U.S. markets and plans to rent them out, according to people familiar with the matter.

Big business bosses are warning that supply chain issues and inflation are here to stay

The most recent inflation prints have done little to assuage concerns about stickier inflation. The U.S. consumer price index jumped 6.2% in October from a year ago, official figures revealed on Wednesday, the sharpest annual rise for 30 years and vastly outstripping the U.S.

Chinese producer price index inflation surged 13.5% annually in October, while U.S. PPI grew at 8.6% annually, equaling an all-time record.

Producer prices climb — and small-business optimism sinks

With spiraling prices weighing on Main Street, more mom-and-pop businesses are making the difficult decision to pass their cost increases along to customers, even as they fret that customers will defect to big retail chains where they can find lower prices.

Sarah Piepenburg, the owner of Vinaigrette, a specialty olive oil and vinegar retailer in Minneapolis, expressed relief that her sales dropped by only 15 percent during the months of pandemic lockdowns, but she added that her expenses skyrocketed, shooting up by nearly 50 percent.

BOARDMAN — Glenwood Junior High School science teacher Eric Diefenderfer recently invited Mahoning County commissioners and representatives from Sam’s Club to see the outdoor classroom space that their donations helped to build.

The project, which cost more than $8,200, was completed by the start of the school year. County commissioners contributed more than $2,300 in CARES Act funds, and Sam’s Club donated 1,000 to buy materials.
