Under new ownership, 'Ebony' magazine bets on boosting Black business : NPR

Ebony 's stories and glossy photos of Black politicians, athletes, protesters, artists, models and college students have fed the souls of Black people for generations.

But in recent years the magazine faced the same challenges as many other traditional print publications. Now, as it turns 76, the publication is rebooting and hoping for a revival with a new approach.

Fayetteville business owner to appear on ABC's 'Free Enterprise'

The wife and mother of three spent a little over one year in federal prison for her role in the Smith Advertising fraud scheme. That was her past, but it's not her future.

The show, which airs this Sunday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m., is based on Inmates to Entrepreneurs, an eight-week program founded by Raleigh-based entrepreneur Brian Hamilton and the Rev. Robert J. Harris that Melvin completed in 2019, while on probation after she was released from prison in 2017.

I have the pleasure of serving on the board of directors of the Eureka Theater. Built in 1939, the theater was hailed as an icon of modernity and civic pride. Its 50-foot-tall sign said, simply and elegantly, "EUREKA.
