Lawmakers seek details on accounting firms after a New York Times report. - The New York Times

Two Democratic lawmakers are seeking information from the country's biggest accounting firms about the revolving door between the firm's tax departments and top positions at the Treasury Department.

Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Representative Pramila Jayapal of Washington made the request after The New York Times detailed how multinational accounting firms effectively draft tax rules from inside the government that benefit their clients.

Private companies continue to delay lease accounting implementation | Accounting Today

Privately held companies are putting off implementation of the new lease accounting standard, even as the effective date approaches.

Last year, in response to the pandemic, the Financial Accounting Standards Board delayed the effective date for the leases standard for nonpublic entities until Dec. 15, 2021, after postponing the effective date earlier.

SIUC, Chicago college sign agreement to improve access for students in accounting

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - Southern Illinois University Carbondale entered an agreement with City Colleges of Chicago to improve access for students in accounting.

The two institutions signed agreements at Harold Washington College for equity in accounting and renewal of Star Scholars.
