No money to pay troops if debt ceiling deal doesn't happen, defense secretary warns

Since reaching the allowable limit for debt back in July, Congress has not been able to reach a deal to raise the so-called debt ceiling, which would allow the U.S. to not only continue paying those debts, but funding the rest of the government.

"If the United States defaults, it would undermine the economic strength on which our national security rests," Austin wrote in a statement.

Foreign National Sentenced for Money Laundering Funds to Promote Turtle Trafficking | OPA |

A Chinese citizen was sentenced today to 38 months in prison and one year of supervised release on a federal money laundering conviction.

From at least June 12, 2017, to Dec. 3, 2018, Kang recruited a network of poachers, shippers and middlemen to illegally obtain and export turtles. He sent money through U.S. banks, including one in New Jersey, to pay for the turtles and their shipments.
