Coupa CEO on the Company's Growth, Plans to Expand

Coupa, a 15-year-old cloud software company that helps its business customers keep track of their spending in one central location, managed to keep users hooked last year despite the pandemic.

The firm, which has a market cap of roughly $18.6 billion, increased its annual revenue 39% to $541.6 million last year. While that's slower growth than in the past — the year before it grew revenue 50% annually — CEO Rob Bernshteyn said that Coupa convinced many of its existing customers to expand their product usage (thanks, in part, to new product offerings that the firm launched through acquisitions).

17 Ways to Overcome Marketing Budget Limitations

One of the most significant ongoing challenges for entrepreneurs, small business owners and marketers has been how to leverage their marketing dollars as effectively and efficiently as possible. That's especially true in times like these, when we're all dealing with the ramifications of the pandemic, political upheaval and social unrest throughout the US and much of the rest of the world.

As a result of the downturn, many companies and organizations have pulled back on their marketing and branding efforts and are taking a defensive, wait-and-see stance. But is that a smart move? For a variety of reasons, I would argue no. Nevertheless, tighter marketing budgets are a reality for many, at least for now. So dealing with that challenge head-on — in a smart, methodical way — is crucial.

NY American Water bills dead as part of state budget | Newsday

An eleventh-hour effort to include rate relief and a new Nassau water authority in the state budget is dead, according to state officials and lawmakers, who say they will instead pursue the initiatives through separate non-budget legislation.

Both measures, which had stalled in the Assembly last week, ultimately never made it past Assembly opponents who expressed wariness about rate impacts for constituents outside of New York American Water's Nassau territory. The company is in the midst of a sale to Liberty Utilities in a $607 million transaction that needs state approval.

Agreement reached on New York State budget

The governor's office says the budget closes the deficit and invests in the ongoing pandemic response and recovery.

Thandiwe Newton is her name. Her mother, a Zimbabwean princess, and her father, a lab technician from Cornwall, England, named her Thandiwe, meaning "beloved" in Zulu. The 'w' first disappeared from her name in Catholic school, forming a more anglicized "Thandie." At school she was "made to feel like an in-house missionary project," writes Diana Evans in a cover story for British Vogue.

Budget carrier Eastar aims to pick new investor by early May: CEO | Yonhap News Agency

SEOUL, April 6 (Yonhap) -- Financially troubled Eastar Jet aims to select a new investor by early May as several investors have shown an interest in the budget carrier, the company's chief executive officer said Tuesday.

Eastar will decide whether to proceed with the investor selection process in the form of a "stalking-horse" bid or an open auction, by the end of this month, Eastar CEO Kim You-sang told Yonhap News Agency over the phone.

In the stalking-horse bid, Eastar will select a preliminary preferred bidder for the budget carrier ahead of an auction in which other bidders submit their prices. The stalking horse sets the low-end bidding price so that other bidders cannot underbid the price.
