Micromobility’s next big business is software, not vehicles – TechCrunch

The days of the shared, dockless micromobility model are numbered. That’s essentially the conclusion reached by Puneeth Meruva, an associate at Trucks Venture Capital who recently authored a detailed research brief on micromobility . Meruva is of the opinion that the standard for permit-capped, dockless scooter-sharing is not sustainable — the overhead is too costly, the returns too low — and that the industry could splinter.

Most companies playing to win have begun to vertically integrate their tech stacks by developing or acquiring new technology.

IBM's Systems Business Awaits The Red Hat Effect

It is frustrating sometimes how IT vendors talk about themselves, particularly when it comes to public companies and those rare few who report financial results even though they are privately held. The summary data is compiled to give Wall Street and other investors the rosiest possible view of the company and a lot of detail that actually describes the business is missing.

IBM is no exception, particularly as it is trying to reposition itself after acquiring Red Hat for $34 billion back in October 2018 and spinning off managed infrastructure division NewCo – now called Kyndryl – by the end of this year.

Austin-area entertainment venues halted by issues with Small Business Administration website |

Funds through the SVOG program were suppose to be available on April 8, but the website where venues submit an application for money isn’t working.

Senator John Cornyn along with many other U.S. Senators wrote a letter to the Small Business Administration urging that they make the effort to meet the SBA’s goal. The letter reads in part:

“The Administration’s recent announcement that it is “aiming to reopen the portal by the end of next week” is encouraging and we urge the administration to make every effort to meet this goal…. With each passing day, more independent businesses are forced to shutter permanently or file for bankruptcy. Landlords and banks are no longer permitting deferrals…”
