North Coast wine businesses seek relief from California wildfire insurance woes

The Glass Fire last year missed Dario Sattui's popular Napa Valley wine tasting stop V. Sattui in Calistoga, but it gutted the "farmhouse" building at his nearby Castello di Amorosa winery, destroying thousands of dollars in wine but leaving the "Castle of Love" and other buildings untouched.

Insurance inspectors have been touring Sattui wine properties in recent days, but he's made one wildfire preparation change on his own this year --- formation of a fire watch team at the castle. The eight-person team is made up of long-term employees who know the intricacies of the grounds.

Dodgers' social team recognized by Sports Business Journal | by Rowan Kavner | Apr, 2021 | Dodger

The Sports Business Journal recognized the Dodgers on Thursday for leading Major League Baseball in engagements and social value across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The metrics were according to Zoomph, a sponsorship analytics platform for sports, entertainment and esports brands and properties.

Dodger posts also received more impressions than any MLB team across Twitter and Instagram. While the Dodgers enjoy one of baseball's biggest markets, SBJ's Will Cavanaugh noted that the Dodgers also impressed in engagement rate, which isn't impacted by follower counts. The Dodgers ranked first in engagement rate on Facebook and Instagram and finished in the top five on Twitter.

Tight-knit family business is devastated by Orange shooting - Los Angeles Times

An avid outdoorsman, the 50-year-old frequently loaded them up in his fifth-wheel for camping trips to Arizona. He sat them on the back of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle to ride through the hills above Fullerton. They spent every Fourth of July, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas gathered at his home in northeast Anaheim.

And when he launched Unified Homes in 2006 with the goal of helping people buy, sell and remodel their manufactured homes, it was only fitting that his family be part of that, too. But this week, a business he built from the ground up became the setting for tragedy.

The COVID-19 pandemic wracked the Berkshire economy. But now, we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel, and business leaders are cautiously optimistic as they look ahead.

To get a firsthand look at what took place and what is to come, we asked 19 Berkshire business and civic leaders to describe, in their own words, what the journey through the pandemic has been like and where they see themselves coming out of it.

If you read my column regularly, you know that it's called The Nonprofit Prophet. So, while none of us can predict the future, it seems only fitting for me to try and offer you my take on what the post-pandemic world may hold for nonprofit organizations.

Female small business owner finds success in pandemic | 11alive.com

ATLANTA — Artist Courtney Buchanan decided September 2020 was the time to share her artwork with the world.

"I basically take their style, their aesthetic, their positive personality traits, put it all in a blender in my brain, and then out pops a scarf," Buchanan said.

When she thought of her "sophisticated, well-mannered and impeccably styled" friend Sarah, she imagined a light blue and sage-colored scarf with a large white flower in the center.
