Not everyone's happy with Gov. J.B. Pritzker's budget proposal. But the "pain," the deep cuts and the across-the-board tax increases that the Democrat predicted would follow last fall's failed amendment to generate more income tax revenue haven't materialized.
Instead, the spending plan Pritzker presented last month and which lawmakers will contemplate in coming weeks eats up a projected $2.6 billion deficit in part by curtailing spending by $400 million and raising $1 billion in taxes through eliminating what he calls "unaffordable" corporate loopholes — several of which weren't loopholes two years ago when he signed them into law.

Traditional budgeting becoming obsolete, unable to adapt to changing market conditions
Success for mid-market businesses — today — is watching the numbers. Budgeting and forecasting are traditionally a once-a-year undertaking because of the required time and resources, but it doesn't have to be, according to Jay Deubler , President of Phocas America.

Billy Hart , Group CFO for HG Group, was part of Phocas Budgeting and Forecasting's development and initial testing.
" We were looking for a faster and simpler way to budget to replace spreadsheets," said Hart. "The first impression with Budgeting and Forecasting during testing and working with the Phocas team was enlightening. We believe Phocas will help us implement the great game of business methodology within HG Group, getting more of our team engaged with budgeting, forecasting and understanding 'the financials,' — the true language of business."
Expense Management Fintech Divvy Confirms it Supports Small Businesses with Better Financial
Divvy confirms in its blog post that the US InternaI Revenue Service (IRS) has extended the tax deadline for this year from April 15 to May 17, 2021 for all individuals. This extension applies to self-employed workers but not small businesses, Divvy's blog clarified.

"The 2021 tax season is upon us, but for small businesses it seems like every season is tax season. Small businesses have regular intervals of tax filings and payments that individuals and larger companies don't face. Rather, small businesses face a tax year full of payment deadlines. It's important to file these payments correctly and on time, otherwise late or incorrect tax payments can incur hefty fees."
