IFAC pushes for accountants to measure sustainability | Accounting Today

The International Federation of Accountants convened a meeting of leaders of accounting organizations to advance sustainability reporting as momentum builds worldwide for consistent environmental, social and governance reporting.

"As we consider the future of global economies and capital markets, and the need for better reporting on sustainability and value creation, there remains a clear need for the skills, business acumen, judgment and ethical core that have always been the domain of professional accountants," said IFAC CEO Kevin Dancey in a statement Friday.

EPFO's accounting needs transparency jab | Business Standard Column

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s (EPFO) trustees announced 8.5 per cent interest for 2020-21, well after more than 10 months had passed in the financial year. Texas Society of CPAs honors two with 2020 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award | Accounting

The Texas Society of CPAs has named Dr. Marina Ruseva, assistant professor of accounting at Lamar University, and Michelle Avila, associate professor of accounting at Our Lady of the Lake University, as the recipients of the 2020 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award. The winners were announced during TXCPA's virtual Midyear Board and Members Meeting, held on Jan. 27, 2021.

The award highlights Texas educators who have "demonstrated excellence in teaching and who have distinguished themselves through active service to the accounting profession." Deloitte Faces U.K. Accounting Probe Into Lookers Audits

(Bloomberg) -- Deloitte LLP faces a probe by the U.K.'s accounting regulator into its audits of financial statements by Lookers Plc.

The Financial Reporting Council on Friday said its enforcement division will investigate the audits for the years 2017 and 2018.

The probe comes amid criticism the Big Four accounting firms have been facing for years for their audit shortcomings. In January, Deloitte was criticized by the FRC over its audits for Autonomy Corp.
