NASA space budget: Billions to SpaceX, Blue Origin, Maxar and more

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is asking Congress for a $25.2 billion budget next year, a 12% increase from last year that will likely be a boon for companies across the space industry.

NASA's request represents a "bigger than expected increase" to its budget, Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas wrote in a note to investors on Tuesday, with significant implications.

NASA got $22.6 billion from Congress for fiscal year 2020 and its increased request stems largely from the agency's goal of fulfilling President Donald Trump's directive to land astronauts on the moon by 2024 – known currently as the Artemis program.

ORLANDO, FL—"There's that old saying of 'If you fail to plan, you're planning to fail,' and that applies to budgets especially. Taking the time to get accurate preliminary budgets can really help in the long run and throughout the length of the project," said Mark Friesen, principal, Beyer Brown, based here.

"As a purchasing agent, it all starts with putting together preliminary budgets. It's important to involve us as soon as possible in the process, even in the design phase, which can be very beneficial to better understand any potential issues related to costs, timing or quality," said Friesen.

Companies must respond to consumer complaints. When they don't, they need to be called out.

My daddy graduated from one of America's top journalism schools, but he didn't think there was any money working as a writer. He became a Certified Public Accountant.

The only writing I ever saw him do was an occasional complaint letter about a product to a company's chief executive officer.

He was a master complainer. His letters were succinct, fact-based and resolution-oriented. When he was done typing, he'd proudly read it to me.

PCAOB to Fold Into SEC by 2022 per Trump Budget

According to a White House budget issued on February 10, 2020, the White House is considering transferring the authority of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB or Board) to the SEC by 2022 in order to eliminate duplication between the two regulators and to "reduce regulatory ambiguity." See A Budget for America's Future .

Sarbanes-Oxley was amended by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in 2010, establishing funding for PCAOB activities, primarily through annual fees assessed on public companies, based on their relative average monthly market capitalization, and on broker-dealers, based on their relative average quarterly tentative net capital.

Starting a business: From low budget to 'Whoa, budget!'

C reating a business from scratch is never an easy endeavor, but some entrepreneurs might carry the scars from the high costs associated with startups while others become their own boss relatively unscathed with much less of a financial burden.

An analysis conducted by LendingTree, the online lending marketplace, of the U.S. Census Bureau's 2016 Survey of Entrepreneurs (the most recent data available) found that 21% of entrepreneurs began their ventures with less than $5,000 in their business checking accounts.
