WASHINGTON — Lawmakers from both parties told Pentagon leaders on Wednesday that the Defense Department is undermining its own efforts to get military money by diverting billions of dollars for the construction of President Donald Trump's U.S.-Mexico border wall
The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and the committee's top Republican warned Defense Secretary Mark Esper that overturning congressional funding decisions to shift money for the wall is an enormous problem that will have consequences.

SEATTLE — More than a half-million dollars is being spent every week on the coronavirus response in Washington state – at least.
"It's not so much a question of if this will happen anymore, but rather more of a question of exactly when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illness," she said.

In Washington state, the Department of Health said it's spending $51,000 a day on the coronavirus response. As of Tuesday, it had spent a total of $1.74 million since the federally-mandated response activated on January 21.

FALMOUTH, Maine — The next time you're pulled over or call the police for help in Falmouth you could be looking at the town's new high tech cruiser.
Falmouth is one of the first departments in Maine to add a hybrid patrol car with a gas-electric engine to its fleet.
"We're excited to have an impact on sustainability and make that commitment to the community and department moving forward," Lt. Jeff Pardue said.
Pardue, who has been with the department for ten years, says just one of the department's patrol cars uses about 3,000 gallons of fuel a year.

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (CBS Local) — A woman stole a cart and money from firefighters to purchase items at an Indiana grocery store after they received an emergency call and had to leave the store, police said.
Members of the Speedway Fire Department were at Kroger buying groceries for their fire house on Sunday morning when the firefighters received an emergency call and had to leave the store.
The cart contained a small bank bag of cash that was pooled by the firefighters to pay for their groceries, the Speedway Police Department said.
